A Mother of a Day

We here at CUE would like to take the time to wish all of the Moms out there a very happy Mother’s Day.
I LOVE being a mom.  Every day I look at my little girl and wonder, “what happened to my baby?” and, “how  did she get so big so fast?”.
We all struggle with the dilemma of whether or not we’re spending enough time with our children, did we make the right choice in letting them eat that?, and feeling guilty because we yelled at them.  Mother’s are incredible people.  We can multi-task better than anyone and live on 3-4 hours sleep.

My mom is one of the most amazing examples of what a mother should embody.  I am so lucky to have been raised by someone who is so fearless, strong and resilient.  No matter what obstacle, she manages to conquer it.  I am in awe of her every day.

Here’s to my mom, being a mom and to all of the mom’s out there who need this day to step back and take a little time for themselves.  We here at CUE honor you.

xoxo,

Danielle

Dress of the Week: Sarah Burton for Kate Middleton

The big day is here and everyone has finally had the chance to see the long awaited Royal wedding.  There has been a lot of hype leading up to this event.  The biggest question was “what will Kate’s dress look like?”.  Now we know!

Kate chose a long sleeved lace and ivory satin design by Sarah Burton.  For those of you who do not recognize the name, Sarah Burton is the Creative Director for the late Alexander McQueen.

We found the dress to be classic and elegant.  Kate embodied everything a princess should be on her wedding day.  The gown was definitely reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress.  We can think of no better person to emulate.

We would love to hear your thoughts!

CUE Cards

They’re here!  And they’re spectacular!!

We were ready for new business cards and couldn’t be happier with the results.  Luckily, we enlisted the help of Miss Pickles Press.

Owner, Jen Mageau, was so wonderful to work with.  She really heard what I had to say and executed it beautifully.

We can’t wait to use Miss Pickles for our clients’ paper needs on future events.

Check out our new cards!!

And check out some of Miss Pickles other works of art:

Enjoy!

Behind the Scenes: A CRAVE Photoshoot

For the past year I have been one of the NYC city leaders for the CRAVE guide.  We are almost ready to go to print on the 1st edition of the CRAVE Guide NYC!  It’s a very exciting time and we can’t wait to see the finished product.  This guide is filled with amazing and inspiring female entrepreneurs ranging from the celebrity to the girl next door.  It finally came time for me to schedule my own CRAVE photo shoot and so I thought it would be fun to share some behind the scenes action with you.

The NYC guide has been fortunate to have access to the talents of some of this city’s premier photographers.  I had the pleasure of being photographed by Jen Huang whose work is highly coveted in the wedding community.  And no photo shoot would be complete without a fabulous makeup artist.  Anni Bruno is a true artist.  I attended an event the evening of the shoot and not only did the makeup hold up flawlessly, but I’m still getting compliments on how beautiful I looked!

The CRAVE guide shows highlights of each entrepreneur’s work in a 2-page spread laid out in a super pretty book.  These books are THE guide to every city’s most incredible female owned businesses.  For this shoot, I was solely focused on getting a great portrait (which will also be displayed on my website).  🙂

There’s nothing like girl power to make for a fun filled day!  We had a blast putting this together and we hope you enjoy the finished product.

Danielle

Giving Thanks

I am thankful for so many things:  my daughter, my husband, my family and friends, my company and my amazing girls that stand by me and help it run.  The list could go on and on.  Today, it’s so important to stand back, look at the big picture and remember how much we have rather than dwell on the things we wish we had.
Last year at this time, my daughter was very sick and we were told it was best not to bring her to my parents’ house and possibly infect others for Thanksgiving.  I was so upset to not be able to enjoy my mother’s cooking and see my family.  But then I realized I had family right where I was.  My husband came home with a turkey and Emily and I decided we would cook the dinner ourselves.  It was an awesome holiday.  I was surrounded by people I love, I learned how to make a turkey (tedious, but not as hard as everyone makes it out to be), and we all had a wonderful time enjoying each other’s company (and the wine and food!).
Not every holiday needs to be a big event.  The important thing is that you’re surrounded by the people you love and that you remember how fortunate you are in the little things you have.
All of us here at CUE wish you and yours a very happy and healthy holiday and remind you all to enjoy the simple things life brings us.

Happy Father’s Day

Dad.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve learned from my father and how many special memories we’ve shared.  My father knows music.  He hooked up microphones to the livingroom stereo so that my sister and I could sing like pros along with the Annie Broadway cast recording.  He shared his passion for the drums with me and I followed in his footsteps.  He took me to see Superman in the movie theatre when I was just a peanut.  I learned the ins and outs of ice hockey from my dad while watching the NJ Devils live season after season.  Now I watch my Dad with his grandkids and I get to see the pure happiness he gets from watching them grow and play.  It’s a wonderful thing to be so close to him so that he can now share his wisdom with my daughter.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful Dads out there!!

Happy Mother’s Day

I wanted to take a moment to wish all of you amazing women out there a Happy Mother’s Day. This is the second Mother’s Day that I get to celebrate as a mother myself. I can only hope that I’m living up to the example my mother set for me. Moms are so many things to so many people—we are strong, multi-tasking, role models. My mother has been my friend, my support system, my psychiatrist, my nurse, and most importantly the inspiration for who I am. It is because of this super woman that I knew that I could have the strength to be in the event industry and still be a mom. Both of these things are full time jobs and as an event planner I am detail oriented, so I need to put 150% into everything I do, I couldn’t do any of this without her inspiration. So let’s all celebrate the amazing women who molded us into who we are today!
